Walking Humbly with God

Finding refuge in God

There are times in our lives when we feel attacked and persecuted. When people turn against us for no good reason. Perhaps out of jealousy, misunderstanding, the need for power and control, or many other reasons. We may feel victims of injustice. The situation may not make sense. Why are they treating me so bad, when I was honest, caring, loving, a good worker? Injustices rarely make sense and they pierce one’s heart. We allow the evil in the world to hook us, to get to our heart and cause suffering.

Of course, we must pray for guidance, do the best we can to clear the air and re-establish peace and healthy relationships. But sometimes people don’t want to listen.  We then surrender the situation to God, we put it in God’s hands, and we pray for His grace and the forgiveness of all involved. I have always found Psalm 27 inspiring when people are behaving with evil towards me. It reminds me to only be concerned with what matters the most: to be holy, and to one day, with God’s mercy, be in the house of the Lord, to see His face in all its wonderful splendor. That is what I seek. All else, including suffering from injustices, I offer for salvation. Because, “One thing I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple."
