The death of Jesus: what we are missing by rushing to Easter
Meditation on the passion and death of our Lord Jesus Christ
On this Good Friday, I’m sharing a link to a 22 minute video by Chris Stefanick. The title is “The death of Jesus: what we are missing by rushing to Easter.” It’s a meditation on the suffering that our Lord Jesus Christ endured during the passion. Also about the love and humility that our heavenly Father demonstrated for all of us. In the western world, at least in the US, we avoid the topic of death and want to gaze away from the sight of suffering.
I think it’s important to meditate on the passion of Jesus throughout the year, but particularly on Good Friday. It helps us appreciate more deeply the immense love of God for us, inspires our self-sacrifice for others, and motivates us to turn away from sin. St Teresa of Avila had a small figure of Jesus at the pillar that she used to meditate on his suffering for us. May God bless you and your family.
